[Editor’s Note: This is in reference to inquiries we made about GEBIs, the ownership group of Honor’s Haven that’s under investigation in Canada. They’re based out of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and these authors kindly wrote in to offer their experience.]

I just read a letter you had written to David Weale concerning the Monks here on Prince Edward Island.

As a neighbour who lives very close to the Monastery I can tell you that they are the best neighbours anyone could ask for. I first met them after Hurrica Fiona when they came and said they would move a large tree that had come down over our driveway. We also were without electricity and running water after the storm and they let us take showers there.

They brought us water for months when we had problems with our well. Now they visit regularly and bring us baked goods and organic fruit.

We could not ask for better neighbours!!! They spend a lot of money in the community buying supplies and with local contractors. We are lucky to have them. Their base is in Taiwan and as you know that country has been threatened with a Chinese takeover, so naturally people are afraid of losing their assets and have invested here in PEI. We had the same thing in Vancouver when China was taking back Hong Kong. This nonsense about these wonderful monks taking over the Western world is so ridiculous!!! This is so unfortunate but just tells you what a very disturbing world it really is at this time. We need more loving kindness and that is what you will get having these peaceful and kind monks in your midst.
