Madalene R. (nee Auringer) Stine, 95, of Kingston, NY, formerly of Murrells Inlet, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation, after a long and courageous battle with dementia.

A daughter of the late Frank J. Auringer, Sr. and Ethel Agnes (McManus) Auringer, she was born on August 21, 1931, at US Army Post Barracks in Plattsburgh, NY.

As part of a military family and during the years of 1940 through 1945, her family moved to Fort Devens, Mass, and were then deployed to Camp Blanding, Florida. After WWII , they moved to Port Ewen to be close to family members. Madalene, also fondly known as "Maggie" or "Sis" finished her high school education at Kingston High School, where she was a member of the Kingston High School Acapella Choir. After graduation she met the love of her life Donald Stine. They were married in 1951, and raised their family of four sons. They were an IBM family and Maggie was a "stay at home Mom".

As empty nesters, they decided to move to Murrells Inlet, SC, where they could enjoy their retirement years. They loved to walk on the beach, travel, and make new friends, and of course, Don loved to play golf. Maggie's main focus was her home, which she loved to decorate. She also enjoyed gardening, and was a talented artist, and spent many hours painting porcelain dolls.

Maggie was a member of the Red Hat Society, often traveling to Red Hat conventions.

Don and Maggie enjoyed entertaining friends and encouraged family members to come and visit. At Christmas time, they would travel North to be with family and to celebrate the holiday.

Her life was not without sorrow, her husband Don, her sons, Kenneth and Robert, three brothers, Frank, Robert and Thomas G. Auringer, Sr., and a granddaughter Kelsey predeceased her.

Upon Don passing away, her quality of life gradually changed. In 2020, she decided to move back to Kingston and be near her family. Maggie enjoyed her independence, living in an apartment for two years. Her next move was to an assisted-living residence, and then it became evident she required greater care, provided at Golden Health Nursing Center. Her health gradually deteriorated until her passing on October 22, 2026.

Maggie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was fun to be with, had a great sense of humor, and a beautiful smile. He life is one to be remembered by her family and her loved ones.

Madalene is survived by two sons, Frederick J. (Mary) Stine of Rosendale, and Richard A. (Cindi) Stine of Phoenix, Arizona, one sister, Barbara McCabe of Port Ewen, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Auringer of Port Ewen, and Eileen Auringer of South Carolina, four grandchildren, Heather and Kenneth Jr., Ericka and Jake, and two great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Madalene, we love and miss you. May God bless you on your new journey.
