Jeffrey D. Ehmann, 60, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday June 11, 2022 with his loving wife and children by his side.

Born August 12, 1961 in Rochester, NY, Jeff was raised throughout the Northeast, Canada, and Florida before his family re-settled in Canandaigua, NY where he graduated from Canandaigua Academy. He continued his education at SUNY FLCC where he earned a degree in accounting and business administration, and SUNY Plattsburgh, from which he graduated with honors in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He spoke highly of his experience studying abroad in Ibaraki, Japan and remained connected to the many cultural experiences he had. He worked for many years in the communications field as a project manager, first with the Poughkeepsie Journal and then for the corporate office at Gannett Corporation. He valued the many relationships he developed throughout his career.

Family was Jeff’s greatest joy and his priority in life. Though they graduated together from SUNY Plattsburgh, he officially met the love of his life, Meg Allen, in 1983. They married in 1988 in Kingston, NY and soon began their family. His children were the light of his life and he enjoyed spending his free time with them, attending sporting events and vacationing at his family’s favorite spot in Wildwood Crest, NJ. Jeff volunteered his time to many organizations, including serving the NYS Spinal Cord Injury Research Board, and he spent many wonderful years as a NYS Ski Ambassador at Belleayre Mountain. He obtained his certification as a USA Swimming Official and served in that capacity at Hurley Rec swim team meets. Jeff also enjoyed volunteering as Santa Claus for the Kingston Area Library, serving as an AYSO soccer coach and referee, and little league baseball coach and umpire. He spent much of his time with his family at the Hurley Rec, where he was a member of the board.

Jeff experienced a life-altering accident in 2005 which left him paralyzed from the waist down. However, his sense of humor and quick wit never waned, and he continued to light up any room he rolled into. He faced many challenges throughout the years, but he was sustained and supported by the love of his family. The Ehmanns wish to thank all the family, friends, and community members who supported Jeff’s journey and their family throughout the years.

Jeff was predeceased by his parents, David and Phyllis Ehmann. Jeff is survived by his wife of 34 years Marguerite "Meg" Ehmann; children Michael Ehmann (Amber) of Saugerties, Kelly Kozakiewicz (Thomas) of Hurley, Catherine Ehmann (Caitlin Crowley) of Ballston Spa; granddaughter Adalee Ehmann; siblings Catherine Dominesey (Andrew) of Mansfield, MA, Julie Malcolm of Canandaigua, NY, his Aunt Sr. Clare Ehmann, SSJ, Uncle Bill Imfeld, Aunt Terri Imfeld; and brothers-in-law David Allen, Jeffrey Allen, and Bob (Jackie) Allen, all of Kingston, NY.
