Frederick "Fred" Planthaber Jr., 77, of Jockey Hill Road, Kingston died Monday, June 6th, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Kingston, New York on October 26th, 1944, a son of the late Viola (Mower) Planthaber.

A veteran of the US Navy, Fred was employed for 33 years in quality control for Dyno Nobel in Port Ewen, retiring in 2003. Following retirement, he worked as a Parking Lot Attendant at the Ulster County Office Building for 18 years.

Fred was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church where he and his wife Corinne were married in 1975.

Fred enjoyed going to antique shops, yard sales and flea markets, and was a collector of second hand treasures, which he enjoyed selling on eBay. He and his family loved their frequent trips to Lancaster, PA. He was a member of the Sawkill Seniors Club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Corinne Marie (Martensen) Planthaber, two daughters, Allison Marie (Shaun) Faulds of Barnegat, NJ and Amy Elizabeth (Richard) Devlin of New Paltz, NY, two brothers, Donald (Carol) Planthaber of Boca Raton, FL, Robert (Mary) Planthaber of Homosassa, FL, and four grandchildren, Maya, Devon, Kyra, and Alexis Faulds. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The family receive friends at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, on Friday, June 10, 2022. Them, the procession formed at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from the funeral home, thence to St. Catherine Laboure Church where the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, Fr. Slawomir Ciszkowski, celebrant, and Fr. John Kearney, concelebrant. Burial with military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard followed at St. Ann's Cemetery, Sawkill.
