A Kingston woman who, along with her husband is accused of possessing and sharing child sexual abuse images will not contest the charges in court. On Thursday, Danielle Schofield pleaded guilty to a single count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child before visiting County Court Judge James R. Farrell in Ulster County Court.

Schofield, 34, is the wife of former Kingston chiropractor John Boyle. On Oct. 30, 2024, she was arrested by state police after they executed a search warrant on the couple’s home and seized electronic devices, based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Schofield was initially charged with felony counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

On March 4, an Ulster County grand jury handed up an indictment that added a count of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child. The same indictment charged Boyle with two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child and a single count of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child. Boyle, who formerly operated a practice in Uptown Kingston, was released on $200,000 bail while Schofield was released without bail.

In her plea agreement, Schofield admitted that she possessed 26 pictures and video depicting child sexual abuse and shared some of them with her husband and other unknown parties by text and using encrypted messaging apps. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors recommended Schofield, who has two young children with Boyle, be sentenced to six months in jail followed by 10 years of probation with sex offender conditions and will have to register as a sex offender.

A final sentencing decision will be made by Farrell at a hearing scheduled for Oct. 10. Following her guilty plea, Schofield was remanded to the Ulster County Jail to await sentencing.

On Friday, June 13, Boyle pleaded guilty to promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child and three more child sexual abuse imagery charges, admitting that he possessed and shared numerous child sex abuse pictures and videos. As part of his plea agreement, prosecutors recommended a sentence of six years and eight months to 20 years in state prison and lifetime registration as a sex offender. He remains free on bail pending sentencing scheduled for Sept. 19.

The case was investigated by state police and prosecuted by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office Bureau Chief Jenna Hastings. Schofield was defended by Poughkeepsie-based attorney Lisa Pelosi. The case remains active and police ask anyone with information to contact New York State Police.
