The Matthewis Persen House Museum, at 74 John Street, has an exciting lineup of events planned for the month of July. Every Saturday will feature a different speaker, reenactment or exhibit, planned by the Ulster County Clerk's Office. The events are as follows:

Saturday, July 5 – Senate House State Historic Site

Staff from the Senate House State Historic Site are visiting to tell the story of New York's Revolutionary War-era government and Kingston's role as a colonial and revolutionary center of power. Come to see artifacts and explore the connection between Senate House and Kingston's history.

Saturday, July 12 – First Ulster Militia: Colonial Reenactors

The First Ulster Militia will take visitors back to the 18th century, dressed in period attire and equipped with authentic gear. The reenactors will demonstrate colonial military practices and share stories of everyday life in early Ulster County.

Saturday, July 19 – D&H Canal Museum Historian Bill Merchant

Historian Bill Merchant of the D&H Canal Museum is coming to discuss the D&H Canal's impact on our area and lasting legacy, as part of the canal's 200th anniversary.

Saturday, July 26 – Harambee Exhibit Opening

Harambee Kingston NY will present a new exhibit at Persen House about the Pine Street African Burial Ground. This exhibit will run for the rest of the season and will include artifacts, samples, curated photographs, documents, displays, talks, and much more.
