Their home field currently getting a long-needed rehab, Kingston Stockade FC will host matches this spring and summer at Tenney Stadium at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, the club announced Wednesday.

Since its founding in 2016, Dietz Stadium in Uptown Kingston has been Stockade FC’s home pitch, but the stadium is in the middle of a multimillion-dollar makeover. The move to Marist may be more than a coincidence; according to the club, more than 25 ex-Red Foxes have played for the team over the years.

Tenney Stadium holds 5,000 people — a lot more than Dietz. According to the club, 2022 matches drew about a thousand spectators per game.

Team leaders hope the expanded capacity will lead to a larger fan base. “Our club represents the entire Hudson Valley,” said Stockade Head Coach Jamal Lis-Simmons. “We are excited to share our incredible game-day atmosphere and on-field product with a new fan base in Poughkeepsie.”

“We are thrilled to be playing at Marist College,” Stockade FC Technical Director Dan Hoffay said. “Stockade FC has been the summer home to many past and present Red Foxes and our relationship with Marist Men’s Soccer Head Coach Matt Viggiano and his staff is extremely important to our success. We are grateful for their hospitality and are looking forward to bringing our fan base to one of the area's premier sports venues.”

“Our community in Kingston has helped us build something amazing, and we’re excited to share it with Poughkeepsie,” said club Chairman Dennis Crowley. “We’re expecting the energy and excitement our fans bring will help us win over new fans and expand the following of the club. We’re also excited to be able to provide sponsorship opportunities to local businesses from the Poughkeepsie area.”

Season tickets for the club’s 2023 National Professional Soccer League campaign are now on sale online. The club expects its schedule to be finalized in early spring.
