For more than three decades Kingston’s perennial sign of both the coming spring and the imminent St. Patrick’s Day, the 2023 Shamrock Run and St. Patrick’s Day has been set for Sunday, March 12.

This is the 35th annual run; the Decicco Brothers will be honored and the Agri-Business Child Development Program will benefit from the proceeds. The Shamrock Run is a two-mile “fun run” beginning in Uptown and going down Broadway to T.R. Gallo Park. Participants are invited to gather at Academy Green for pre-run entertainment and, with a cannon blast at 12:50 p.m. sharp, runners and walkers will race down the heart of Kingston.

Entry fee for the race is $25 online before March 6, and $30 during race weekend on March 11 and 12. Uniquely designed race shirts are available to the first 2,000 runners. There are no refunds or exchanges, and animals are not permitted.

“Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers are the presenting sponsors of this run, and have been since the very first Shamrock Run. Without them, this run could not take place,” organizers the Irish Cultural Center of the Hudson Valley stated.

There will be a post-race party at the Rondout Neighborhood Center at 105 Broadway at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be randomly drawn from all registered runners. The grand prize: a $1,000 gift card towards a trip to Ireland Entrants must have a race number and be present to win.

The ICCHV will award the Yvonne Sill School Participation Award and Trophy for the school with the highest student participation percentage, sponsored by Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union. The winning school will receive $250 and have the honor of displaying the Yvonne Sill trophy in their school. Ms. Sill was a local teacher and pillar in the community who passed from a sudden illness in 2018; the ICCHV began the Yvonne Sill award for school participation in 2019.
