In the wake of the death of one if its students, the Kingston City School District is offering intervention services for anyone in the school community.

News of the death was shared on Wednesday, and a GoFundMe was set up by Lacey Marie, of Kingston. "Please help a loving family through a very tough time of need," reads a statement on the page. "This young girl’s life was taken too soon. No parent ever thinks of having to be financially ready to go through this for there child. As a family we’re trying to raise enough money to give this amazing girl the service that she deserves. Any donations are greatly appreciated! If you can’t donate please at least share the link for us. We want to thank everyone for all there love and support!" As of Friday evening, $2,709 was raised of the $4,000 goal. “The Kingston City School District community mourns this tragic loss,” the district stated in a release on Wednesday. “If any student, parent or staff member needs to speak with someone in this difficult time, our Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team has been activated and is available.”

According to the district, “CISM is an intervention protocol developed for helping the community in dealing with traumatic events. It is a professionally recognized process for helping those involved in a critical incident to share their experiences, vent emotions, learn about stress reactions and get further help if required. Any conversation with a member of our CISM Team is strictly confidential.”

The district’s CISM Team consists of social workers, psychologists, nurses, counselors and safety personnel trained to help students, staff, and families in traumatic times.

Those needing help are urged to call 845-943-3826 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to be set up with a district professional.

“Our thoughts are with the family of this young life taken too soon,” the district stated.
